Congestion in Heart Failure: A State-of-the-art Approach

Guest Editor: Dr Josip Borovac, University Hospital of Split in Split, Croatia

Heart failure (HF) remains a global health challenge, with congestion playing a pivotal role in disease progression, symptom burden, and adverse outcomes. Despite advances in pharmacological and device-based therapies, congestion continues to be a key driver of hospitalisations and mortality, underscoring the need for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This special focus brings together contemporary research exploring the complex mechanisms of congestion, its clinical implications, and emerging management paradigms.

This collection features insightful manuscripts that advance our understanding of congestion in HF from multiple perspectives. As we navigate the future of HF management, the integration of novel technologies, biomarker-driven approaches, and remote monitoring holds promise for mitigating the burden of congestion and improving patient outcomes. We hope that the findings presented in this collection contribute to the ongoing discourse on congestion in HF and inspire further research and innovation in this ever-evolving field.
